The Frist Art Museum 2018 Young Tennessee Artists: Selections from Advanced Studio Art Programs exhibition will take place from October 20, 2018, through March 17, 2019. Students participating in Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) studio art programs during the 2017–2018 school year are invited to submit artwork to be considered for this seventh biennial museum-quality exhibition.
This year we've migrated to an online submission process! We look forward to reviewing students’ submissions this spring. Teachers, thank you in advance for your assistance and continual encouragement of our amazing youth in support of this exhibition.

About the Frist: Located in Nashville, the Frist Art Museum is a nonprofit art museum, with approximately 24,000 square feet of gallery space. It presents the finest visual art from local, state, and regional artists, as well as major U.S. and international exhibitions.
About the Conte Community Arts Gallery: While the Frist brings art from all over the world to Nashville, Conte Community Arts Gallery is dedicated to our mission of finding and making connections with local artists. The 2018 Young Tennessee Artists exhibition will be displayed in this space, which is the major entryway into the museum.
About 2018 Young Tennessee Artists: The exhibition presents juried selections of two-dimensional artwork created by students in AP and IB studio art programs throughout Tennessee during the 2017–2018 academic year. A panel of university educators, artists, and curators will select 30–35 works for the exhibition. Selected works must be delivered to the museum between June 25 and July 13, 2018. The Frist will mat and frame all works selected for display, and the framed works will be returned after the exhibition closes. The exhibition will be on view from October 20, 2018, through March 17, 2019 (dates subject to change). The selected artists, their families, and their teachers will be invited to a reception in December to celebrate the exhibition.
Eligibility: High school students currently participating in a certified College Board AP or IB studio art program (i.e., during the 2017–2018 academic year) are invited to submit artworks for this exhibition. The student's participation in an AP or IB program will be verified. If participation cannot be verified, the student's submissions will be disqualified.
Submission requirements: Each student may submit digital images of up to 10 two-dimensional works of art or films* completed for an AP or IB studio art portfolio during the 2017–2018 academic year. The maximum physical size for each work is 24 x 36 inches. No three-dimensional work will be accepted. Students must submit their work between February 12 and May 18, 2018 (no later than 11:59 p.m. CDT, when the online system will close). There is no submission fee. An email will be sent confirming our receipt of each submission.
Note, by submitting artwork for consideration, you grant the Frist Art Museum permission to use all submitted content in its promotional and educational efforts in support of this exhibition. This includes permission to release images and media files to the press for editorial review, include images and stills on the Frist's web and social media pages (at 72 ppi), promote and market the exhibition, include in exhibition-related print components such as the gallery guide, and other non-commerical uses.
*A film of up to 10 minutes in length may be submitted as one work. Digital copies of films should not exceed 25 MB in size. To submit larger video files, contact Rosemary Brunton at rbrunton@fristartmuseum.org.
